From mid-2017 to my last day at Forbes in 2019, I was responsible for overseeing the visual identities of all events under ForbesLive. Below are 4 examples of branding identities I designed for conferences but not limited to; CIO Summit, Agtech Summit, Women's Summit, and Under 30 Summit.
Forbes, 2017-2018
Role: Art Director, Design Lead
Creative Director: Dan Hennessy
Designer: Sam Charlino
CIO SUMMIT
Forbes CIO Summit gathered the most influential of these leaders to explore today’s biggest technological challenges, foster deep collaboration and generate new ideas. This was one of the first ForbesLive event's where I had complete art direction over style guides and look and feel. My goal was to create a brand identity inviting and engaging, and to modernize this event.
$24B — Total Attendees IT Budget
35% — Work for Top Global Innovative Companies
30 — Industries Represented
150+ — Senior Leaders in the Technology Field
HALF MOON BAY, CA, 2018
AGTECH SUMMIT
The 2019 Forbes AgTech Summit brought together over 600 global agriculture leaders and entrepreneurs to tackle some of the world’s most critical challenges. For the visual identity, I thought it would be fun to take icons that represent both agriculture and technology, and combine them together to create the letters for AGTECH. This worked well as branded signage, as the designs easily stood out amongst the crowd. We produced a higher quality staging backdrop for the first time with Agtech. We chose a wooden frame as a backdrop, which complimented the theme of Agriculture very well.
SALINAS, CA, 2018
WOMEN'S SUMMIT
The 2018 Forbes Women’s Summit brought together a community of inspiring and innovative visionaries whose ambitious actions were changing the world at unprecedented scale. We modified the branding from the previous year (2017) by adjusting the color palette on the ink patterns. We also gave this year a designed tagline, which was used interchangeably with the original logo lockup.
One of the challenges I faced when designing this event was the budget for staging (which unfortunately, was not much). What we did for this year was repurposing the existing stage created for Agtech, and use it for Women's Summit as well. Because we combined the allocated expenses for both event's budget, we were able to use a bit more of the budget, yet save money at the same time.
NEW YORK CITY, 2018
UNDER 30 SUMMIT
What happens when more than 7,000 of the world’s top innovators and entrepreneurs under 30 gather together in the most revolutionary city in the country? They seize the moment to create, collaborate, and conceive new ideas that can change the world. Some influential Under 30 speakers included: Kendrick Lamar, Aly Raisman, Lindsey Vonn, and Whitney Wolfe. With guidance, this was the first event I designed the identity for. I wanted the graphics to be abstract and fluid to keep engagement across the Under 30 Village.
