2020 - 2021
My role
Art Direction & Design Lead
Deliverables
Campaign concepts, motion and animation, paid and organic social, display ads, landing pages, event graphics, CRM emails
2021
Docs was Codecademy’s bet on community: a coding reference written by experts, educators, and learners. I led design for the launch, building the campaign from the product’s own look and feel. The Docs illustrations and dotted-grid background came directly from the website, so the jump from ad to product felt seamless. The goal wasn’t only awareness. We needed outside contributors from day one, so every piece pointed people toward reading and writing.
Results
3.2× the traffic goal on launch day alone
32k+ visits to Docs, against a 10k target
54 contributor entries in week one
Beat the 45-entry goal in a quarter of the planned four weeks

2021
A May push to drive Codecademy Pro bookings. Two concepts, each built around a different reason learners come to us, and each designed as one animation that works from the feed down to a 250px-tall banner.
Market segments
Job seekers - Actively job seeking or interviewing for a new role.
Upskillers - Improving technical skills to apply in their professional role.
Learner roles
Knowledge workers - Interact with data and information in their everyday job, but don’t need proficiency in a programming language.
Technologists - Software developers, data scientists, or related roles where proficiency in a programming language is required.
Learner Need: Guidance
Every path, and the one that's yours
Learner Need: Job-Readiness
The interview, solved in seconds
Concept 01
Guidance Flow Chart
Learning to code starts with a maze of languages and paths. We drew that maze as a flow chart, then let Codecademy light up the one route that fits the learner's goal. One visual speaks to all four audiences: knowledge workers and technologists, upskillers and career switchers.
Adapted for display
The flow chart had to be comprehensible at banner scale. The animation tells the same story, pared down to play faster.

Concept 02
Whiteboard Interview
Learners come to Codecademy for interview prep, so we put them in the room: a whiteboard interview, solved step by step. The challenge was turning a long, stressful moment into a few seconds an ad can hold.
Adapted for display
Handwriting gets tiny fast. For the banners, the problem is cut to its key lines and the solve plays out in whatever width each spec allows.

A/B Test result
Guidance flow chart was the winner with better visibility and conversion compared to the white board interview.

2021
In the fall of 2021, Codecademy for Business (CfB) launched the new Teams+ plan. Some of the key benefits of Teams+ for businesses include: faster outcomes with active learning, manage multiple training programs at once, customize curriculum with courses, and tracking team's progress and ROI. My role included: creating paid social videos highlighting these various features, landing pages and event graphics for dedicated webinars, as well as CRM emails to target potential clients.

2020
The Career Paths II campaign highlighted the simultaneous launch of Data Analyst and revamp of our Computer Science Career Paths, and the new Career Path cohorts feature. The campaign had two main objectives: drive new Pro bookings and increase site visits. Marketing channels included paid social, organic social, CRM, blog, and on-site.
